We left the Oasis Inn at Furnace Creek in Death Valley and rode west on US 190 to Lone Pine, California which sits directly below Mt Witney, the highest peak in the lower 48 states. We enjoyed a great breakfast and then rode south down to US 395 to Nine Mile Canyon Road.
Nine Mile Canyon leads up to twistys on the east side of Sherman Pass that makes for some great riding. We reached Grumpy's and the General Store in Kennedy Meadows to discover that Sherman Pass was closed to all through traffic. We turned aroud and enjoyed the ride back to US 395.
After heading south on US 395, we turned west on CA 178 to Lake Isabella and then north on CA 155 to Wofford Springs. CA 155 was an amazing road to ride west from Wofford Springs to Glennville where we turned north to stay in the foothills of the Sierra all the wat to Lindsay where we spent the night.
348 miles in 9:23 hours.
