Hurricane, Utah to Death Valley, California

5/19/24

Today we drove south on I-15 through the Virgin River Gorge turning off on NV 169 down to Moapa Valley towards Lake Mead.

Somewhere between Hurricane and Moapa, Andy's keys and bike fob fell out of the wrist pocket on his 'Stich! After an initial panic, he found his emergency key for the new K1600 GT. It now resides on a lanyard around his neck!

We visited the Hoover Dam and joined the other tourists walking across to see Lake Mead with it's bath tub ring, and downstream the Colorado river below the towering dam.

we rode into Las Vegas as the temperature rose to 106 degF. Tried to stop and take some pictures but the traffic was very busy and Brendan's bike started to flash red from over heating.

Continuing on to Death Valley we visited Badwater, the lowest point in the USA, and Artiist Pallette, before checking in at the very comfortable Oasis Inn. We quickly found the pool and enjoyed a "few" frozen Margaritas whilst making friends and cooling off.

We are staying two nights at the Oasis Inn.
